RuneSpawn is an Old School RuneScape private server. This page takes you from downloading the game to the end of the Spawnkeeper’s tutorial.
Get the game
Download the RuneSpawn launcher from the download page on the website. It has installers for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Run the installer, open RuneSpawn and sign in. The launcher keeps the client up to date for you.
Make an account
Create your account on the RuneSpawn website. You sign up with Google or Discord, or with e-mail when e-mail sign-up is open. Accept the terms on the next step, then choose your RuneSpawn username.
Your first login
New players start at home with the Spawnkeeper, who walks you through a short tutorial. You cannot be hurt while the tutorial runs. If you get stuck, talk to the Spawnkeeper again and choose “I’m stuck.”
The tutorial goes in this order:
- Choose your look. Pick an appearance, then press Confirm.
- Account type. Pick your account type (see below). This screen cannot be closed until you choose.
- Welcome Bonus. Normal accounts pick a starter weapon.
- Quick Gear. Open the journal tab and try each icon: presets, Elo, PvP rewards and the drop viewer.
- Player info. Open the Account tab. Your name, mode, votes and slayer live there.
- The shop. Look at the shop counter to open the Universal Shop, where you spend coins and other currencies and can sell some items.
- Getting around. Click Teleport on the Spiritual Fairy Tree to see the teleport list: bossing, skilling, dungeons and Wilderness destinations.
- Send-off. The Spawnkeeper gives you the Codex and offers to open the vote board.
Account types
The Spawnkeeper’s warning is worth repeating: your XP rate can be made faster later, but never slower.
| Account type | Combat XP | Skilling XP | Drop rate bonus | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 150x | 20x | None | Start with maxed combat stats and the ability to spawn basic items. |
| Realist | 10x | 10x | +5% | No Ironman restrictions. Combat stats start at the normal levels. |
| Ironman | 10x | 10x | +5% | Cannot trade, stake, receive PK loot, scavenge dropped items or play certain multiplayer minigames. |
| Ultimate Ironman | 10x | 10x | +7% | Ironman rules, plus no banks and no kept items on a dangerous death. |
| Hardcore Ironman | 10x | 10x | +7% | Ironman rules and one life. A dangerous death turns you into a standard Ironman. |
Group Ironman is not on the list right now.
